Study Kazakhstan is based in the United States and is operated by higher education professionals (see About Us) from the United States and India. We operate a highly ethical, transparent and student focused practice. We do not charge any fee for our services but there is an industry standard INR 2900 application fee for short-term programs and an INR 4500 application fee for degree programs.

Tuition fees vary greatly depending on the university, program, and level of study. However, you can generally expect undergraduate fees to range from INR 4,00,000 to INR 6,00,000 per year, and postgraduate fees might be slightly higher. This is significantly lower than in many Western countries.

Scholarship opportunities specifically for Indian students might be limited but do exist. Some Kazakh universities offer merit-based scholarships or discounts for international students. The Study Kazakhstan team will have up-to-date information about scholarships.

Common documents include your passport copy, academic transcripts and diplomas, English language proficiency test scores (if required), a motivation letter or personal statement, letters of recommendation (for postgraduate studies), and a medical certificate. Specific universities might have additional requirements.

Application deadlines vary but generally fall between June and August for the September intake. Some universities might have rolling admissions or different deadlines for specific programs. Certificate Programs: Participants must be between 18-30 years old and have completed at least 10 years of study. Participants between 16-18 years old are welcome to participate as part of a customized class group from their school of 15 or more students. Our Study Kazakhstan team is available to answer additional questions or prepare a customized program quote.

Short-term Programs: No visa is required for Indian nationals visiting Kazakhstan for 13 days or less. Many of our certificate programs are designed for you to gain academic and cultural experience without having to apply for a Kazakhstan visa. Please connect with our team for additional information.
Degree Programs:The visa application process typically involves applying to a university, receiving an acceptance letter, and then applying for a student visa at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in India. You'll need documents like your passport, acceptance letter, proof of funds, and health certificate. The processing time can vary, so it's advisable to start the process well in advance (at least 2-3 months before your intended arrival).

The academic year typically runs from September to June, divided into two semesters with breaks in January/February (winter break) and July/August (summer break). There might also be shorter breaks for public holidays. Are there opportunities for part-time work for international students? What are the regulations? Job prospects exist and a work visa is quite simple to obtain, particularly in multinational companies operating in Kazakhstan, international organizations, and in sectors like energy, finance, technology, and education.

Almaty is known for its beautiful natural surroundings, milder climate, and a more established international feel. Astana is the modern capital with striking architecture, a more continental climate (hot summers, cold winters), and a rapidly developing infrastructure. Job opportunities are available in both cities.

The average cost of living for a student in Astana can range from INR 20,000- 29,000, whereas in Almaty can range from INR 22,000- 32,000 per month, depending on your lifestyle and accommodation choices. Dormitories are usually the most affordable option starting at INR 4,500 per month, while private rentals will be more expensive (See Below for more details). Food and transport are generally quite affordable.

While it's beneficial to learn some basic phrases in either Kazakh or Russian for daily life and cultural immersion, it's often possible to manage daily life in Astana, and especially in Almaty, using English.

Universities usually offer dormitory accommodation, which is the most affordable option (around INR 4,500- 15,000 per month). Private rentals (apartments or shared housing) are also available but are generally more expensive (INR 20,000- 35,000 per month, depending on location and size).

Kazakh cuisine is traditionally meat-based, but you can find vegetarian options, especially in Almaty and Astana. Rice, noodles, vegetables, and dairy products are common.

Kazakhstan is considered a safe country for international students. Like any urban area, it is always important to be aware of your surroundings and take basic safety precautions. Universities often have security services on campus.

Both Almaty and Astana have well-developed public transportation systems, including buses, trolleybuses, and metro (in Almaty). Student discounts might be available. Taxis and ride-sharing apps are also common and relatively affordable compared to many Western countries.
